Tricia Kearns (Teacher Training Specialist)

Tricia Kearns is a science educator in Poudre School District, located in northern Colorado. She currently teaches 6th-grade science and 7th-grade health at Webber Middle School in Fort Collins, Colorado. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology from Lawrence University in Appleton, Wisconsin, and a Master of Science Degree in Science Education from National-Louis University in Chicago, Illinois. Mrs. Kearns has been teaching for 17 years and is a 4th generation educator. She is a National Geographic Certified Educator. She serves as a teacher advisor for Scholastic’s Science World Magazine and recently was awarded a teaching fellowship to travel with Ecology Project International. Mrs. Kearns has served as the head tennis coach for seven years and is currently the faculty sponsor for the NREL Junior Solar Sprint club. She enjoys taking her students outdoors on field trips to connect with nature. She has traveled with students both internationally to Costa Rica and nationally where she has partnered with Grand Canyon Youth to take students on citizen science rafting trips on the Colorado River. Mrs. Kearns maintains community connections with her students in collaboration with both national and local organizations where her students have participated in numerous environmental service-learning projects. Mrs. Kearns is a part of the EdTech Cohort for her district and enjoys using technology in the classroom to enhance student learning. Mrs. Kearns believes that every student deserves to be heard and is committed to amplifying student voice and empowering students to take ownership of their learning.
